7 REASONS WHY WE QUIT?

The word quit simply means to stop doing anything. It's sometimes also referred to as leaving a place or departure from a place. But nowadays this word is in trend with the youth of not only our country but worldwide. Thomas Alva Edison one of the most famous scientists of world history once on asking said that "He didn't fail 999 times but he just found 999 new ways by which the bulb can't lit up." and rest we all know that now we all are under his light.

Everyone in his life has quitted things at some point in time whether it would be for his /her own good or he/she might have to face consequences of quitting. Today we will be discussing the most common reasons I have probably found as the main reasons for quitting things. These reasons are just those which I personally feel that are the most relevant and the common ones in most cases there are many more such reasons which I just would be grateful if will be quoted by you in the comments section below.

7 Reasons which I feel are the most common reasons for quitting things by the youth are:

1.     Lack of Commitment.
2.    Bad Decisions.
3.    Lack of Interest.
4.    Procrastination.
5.     Family Problems.
6.    Lack of Results.
7.     Self-Doubts.

Now let us discuss each of these reasons in detail.

1. Lack of Commitment:

Lack of Commitment is the first reason why we end up quitting things in life. But some people don't like this word at all. Some people want it to happen so badly. Let's first see what does the word commitment means. Commitment can be described as the state or quality of being dedicated to a cause, activity, etc. We can also see it as a promise or agreement to do something. As an example, we can see going into a meeting with someone. Commitments are not only done in relationships but everywhere else too. When we are committing to something, we are actually promising to give our time, energy, and attention to that thing.
People by a million are bailing out of jobs, careers, businesses, relationships, and life in general. Most of these people lack the commitment to a cause, lifestyle, purpose, or outcome. When it gets a little tough, uncomfortable or they don't get the results as quick as they thought then their response is: "I'm out of here."

Life ain't easy nor it was ever meant to be. The key to remember is that what's happening isn't really that important. There will always be negative stuffs. Many people seem to lack any sense of real commitments or responsibilities. Everyone wants to blame someone or something for their problems or advisory. By commitment, I am not suggesting that you should endure an abusive relationship or continue to work for an organization that treats you unprofessionally or hold on to a business that has been dead and buried. I'm suggesting, however, that you consider your attitude about this concept. Is bailing out your knee jerk reaction to difficult times, a failure, a stressful period in a relationship, continuous problems, or a bad year? Difficult times can build strength and character, and can give you a real "high" when you overcome them. You cheat yourself of this sense of accomplishment when things are easy.

2. Poor Decisions:

Poor decision or Bad decision is the second most reason why we end up quitting. Before we talk about poor decisions or bad decisions, we need to understand what a decision actually is? A decision is a conclusion or resolution reached after the consideration. We humans take uncountable decisions in our life some of those decisions made by us come up with some great results while on the other hand few of them don't have the result that we were expecting. And here it all starts the decisions made by us which doesn't give us the end results what we were expecting are counted as bad decisions. A bad decision or a poor decision is just something when we fail to provide the right input at the right time.

Research has shown that a typical person makes around 2,000 decisions every waking hour. Most of the decisions are minor and we make them instinctively or automatically- what to wear to work in the morning, whether to eat lunch now or in ten minutes, etc. But many of the decisions we make throughout the day take real thought, and have serious consequences. Consistently making good decisions is arguably the most important habit we can develop, especially at work. Our choices affect our health, our safety, our relationships, how we spend our time, and our overall well-being.

Poor decisions are usually taken when we don't analyze a situation correctly. When we aren't sure enough that do, we really want it or not. This situation is also known as Analysis Paralysis. Even though our emotions play a role in our decision making. Sometimes we make up our mind to do something we don't want to do just under our emotions. When our emotions overshadow our clarity towards decisions, we end up messing around. Though multitasking is a good practice but sometimes we just end up being a washer man’s dog and become a perfect example for the proverb between two stools we come to the ground. As we just end up quitting all or either one of the practices.

3. Lack of Interest:

Lack of Interest is the third step why we usually quit on things. But before just elaborating how interest leads us to quit things, we must see what interest means. Interest is basically the key behind everything we do. Interest can be defined as the feeling of wanting to know or learn about something or someone. We can also describe interest as a feeling of a person whose attention, concern, or curiosity is particularly engaged by something. Interest is both a psychological state of attention and affection toward a particular object or topic, and an enduring predisposition to reengage over time.

Lacking interest could possibly take away the fun, zeal, and wish to live out of you. It could kill the curiosity inside you to learn new things. People lack interest in their jobs, family life, or just about anything. Lacking interest is a dangerous issue that may have a very adverse impact on our lives. If not prioritized and addressed in time, it can ruin careers, performance at the workplace, or even personal relationships. A person may lose his interest in his routine life due to deteriorating physical or mental health, excessive job stress at the workplace, lack of motivation at work, a relationship breakup, and so on. A person may lack the interest to perform well because he may be unsatisfied with the salary he is earning, the workplace conditions, and the way the management functions.

4. Procrastination:

Procrastination is one of the possible seven reasons I could find out for quitting. Let's first check what is the meaning of procrastination. Procrastination can be defined as an act of delaying or postponing something. It can also be described as a habit of putting off or delaying, especially a task that needs immediate attention.

If you have spent some time on internet surfing about procrastination then you might have found out a common reason for it that is laziness. Even if you won't have surfed the internet but just have looked around yourself then also you might have come up with the same reason. But while my research I found out that there are four main reasons that cause procrastination.

The four causes of procrastination are:

1.     Low Self-Efficiency: A person's belief and expectation that they are capable of completing a task. When we don’t have much confidence in our ability to complete a task (or to complete it well), our likelihood of procrastinating goes way up. This shows up most commonly when we’re uncertain about how to start a task.
2.    Low Value: How enjoyable or painful is the task at hand? In general, the more enjoyable a task, the less we procrastinate on it. Although, it seems that mildly painful and boring tasks are actually more likely to lead to procrastination than extremely difficult tasks which helps explain why we tend to procrastinate so much on busywork.
3.    Impulsiveness: Difficulty maintaining focus in the face of immediate and more appealing distractions. If we’re vulnerable to lots of distractions—or work in a highly distracting environment—and have a hard time resisting those distractions, we’re much more likely to procrastinate.
4.    Delay: How much time there is in between the decision to take on a task and the point when it must be completed. Basically, the longer you have to finish a task, the longer you’ll wait to get started on it.

5. Family Problems:

Family problems are one of the major factors why some people quit things. Before moving on to family problems let's see what is a family first. The family is the nucleus of human society, the main incubator of its members, and an essential source of happiness, tranquillity, and stability for them. But there is almost no family without differences or problems from time to time. Differences of opinion from the Sunnah of God in creation, God has created different human beings, each person has his own personality traits and tendencies, which is different from the other, you see the husband loves something that the wife does not like In the eyes of children, they want to do business that parents do not want.

Now, as we know what is a family, we can move up to the definition of family problems. Family problems mean a kind of troubled relationship between family members which in turn leads to tensions, whether these problems result from the misconduct of a family member or the two main parties, and the frequent quarrels and differences between parents, or between children or between children and parents Make the family in turmoil, and lose the children's prestige, respect and belonging to the family. Family problems are defined by several definitions, including: (situations and critical and puzzling issues facing the individual require a solution, and reduce the vitality and effectiveness and production and the degree of adaptation to himself and with the community in which he lives).
Some of the common family problems are listed below:
1.     Psychological and emotional problems.
2.    Cultural problems.
3.    Economic problems.
4.    Health problems.
5.     Social problems.
6.    Problems of social role.

6. Lack of Results:

Lack of results is the second biggest reason according to me for quitting things. The moral of a person shatters when he/she is giving it all but ain't getting the desired results. All of us have goals. Goals like losing weight, earning more money, finding a life partner, setting up our business, achieving performance targets, being fitter, building better relationships, and so on. Some people seem to have no problem achieving their goals. Some, on the other hand, don’t seem to be able to make any progress.

Some of the prominent reasons why we don't get succeeded are as following:
1.     Procrastination.
2.    Underestimating your goals.
3.    Spending more time defending your problems than taking action.
4.    Being too enclosed in your own world.
5.     Not working smart.
6.    Avoidance (Fear).
7.     Getting distracted easily.
8.    Overcomplicating situations.
9.    Giving up too easily.
10. Losing sight of your goals.
11.  Being stuck in your way.

7. Self-Doubt:

Self-doubt last in the list but the most dangerous on the list. What is self-doubt? Self-doubt is a lack of confidence in oneself and one's abilities. At some points in our lives, we question ourselves whether we are doing good enough or capable of all the uncertainties that might come up as we grow older. We doubt about decisions and choices we made or simply feel “I am just not good enough for that.” This is Self-doubt.

Self-doubt occurs when we are lack of confidence or feeling incapable of doing things we need to do. People who doubt themselves panic about things would go out of control or not going the way as expected. Self-doubt ain't bad. It just got some bad reputation. A certain level of self-doubt is good because it indicates you understand what you need to improve in order to do better. Self-doubts can lead you to high-quality thinking and ultimately to better results. But it's good unless you carry a baggage of self-doubts and take peer pressure and stop performing.
Some main causes of self-doubt are as following:
1.     Past Experiences and Mistakes.
2.    Childhood Upbringing.
3.    Comparison with Others.
4.    The Rise of New Challenges.
5.     Fear of Failure.

At last, I just want to say that don't just give up on anything so easily. If you ever felt like quitting on something just ask yourself a few sets of questions. Ask yourself:

·       What makes you want to quit?
·       Would you be quitting for a good reason?
·       Is the end result worth quitting?
·       What makes you want to keep going?
·       Will you regret giving up?
·       Why did you start in the first place?
