WHAT IS ATMANIRBHAR BHARAT VISION AND BOYCOTT CHINA CAMPAIGN?

India is fighting with multiple challenges including COVID-19, locust attack, floods, earthquakes. All these problems together have caused a major loss to the economy of the country. This economic crisis triggered majorly by the COVId-19 pandemic that has given birth to the vision of "Atamanirbhr Bharat". This vision was introduced by our honorable Prime Minister Mr. Narendera Modi on his fifth addressing at the time of this pandemic on MAy 12, 2020. If talking about its first look and features then it's features are similar to the Swadeshi movement launched on August 7, 1905, to take on to the British regime of that time.

India has faced the pandemic of COVID-19 with fortitude and a spirit of self-reliance. That is evident from the fact that from zero production of Personal Protection Equipments (PPE) kits before March 2020, India has today created a capacity of creating 2 lakh PPE kits daily, and its also growing steadily.

Additionally, India had shown the world that it got powers and had demonstrated them how to rise up against a challenging situation and uncovers opportunities therein, as manifested in the re-purposing of various automobiles sector industries to collaborate in making of life-saving ventilators.

The PM is a master sloganeer. The first slogan was in public memory 'Zero Defect, Zero Effect' wasn't very clear. That film industry should reduce defects in their manufactures is obvious. But why should that have zero effects?

Then came the one that made waves in the nation 'Make in India'.  This slogan had a hoary history. Although, our former PM Mr. Jawaharlal Nehru wasn't having any slogan for this but, favoring Indian films, products, and throwing out imported and foreign products were also done by Nehru's and his daughter's governments for decades. 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' was one of the slogans by PM Modi. The latest, 'Vocal for Local' rhymes well and 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' hard to pronounce for some foreigners but originated from our very own owned language Sanskrit is also a symbol that from now onwards the world will be experiencing the heat on making of a new superpower.

WHAT IS ATMANIRBHAR BHARAT?

The word 'Atmanirbhar' means 'self-reliant'. The Atmanirbhar Bharat is a vision of our PM of making India a self-reliant nation. A nation that can fulfill its needs/demands by itself. A nation that does not have to rely on other nations for things. It's a vision of a nation that can create job opportunities for its own people. The 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' or the 'self-reliant India doesn't mean cutting off from the rest of the world' Finance Minister clarified. The Law and IT minister said that "self-reliant India doesn't mean isolating from the world. Foreign direct investments are welcomed, technology is welcomed[...] self-reliant India...translated to being a bigger and more important part of the global economy".

The Atmanirbhar Bharat is basically a model that is based upon 5 pillars. The 5 pillars on which the self-reliant India is based on are as following:
  1. ECONOMY
  2. INFRASTRUCTURE
  3. SYSTEM (TECHNOLOGY DRIVEN)
  4. VIBRANT DEMOGRAPHY
  5. DEMAND
The five phases of Atmanirbhar Bharat are:

Under the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' or 'Self-reliant India' vision, our PM had announced an economic package of Rs 20 lakh crore (20 trillion). PM economic package would be around 10% of the GDP of India. He said that the economic package would play an important role in making India 'self-reliant' and that it would surely benefit the laborers, farmers, honest taxpayers, MSMEs, and the cottage industry. The PM said that the goal of the country would be to become self-reliant, and identified economy and infrastructure as key drivers for it. He added that making India self-reliant is the only way to make the 21st century belong to India. When India speaks of self-reliance, it doesn't advocate for a self-centered system. What you think is it true or you feel like its a step towards self-centering India comment and tell me.

What is the controversy around Atmanirbhar Bharat Mission?

The government has cleared that 'self-reliant India doesn't mean cutting off from the rest of the world'. However, some have called Atmanirbhar Bharat as a re-packaged version of Make in India drive using a new tagline such as 'Vocal for Local'. Some opposition members have spoken about how India has enacted policies and built companies since its creation to make India self-reliant - SAIL for steel production, IITs for domestic engineers, AIIMS for medical sciences, DRDO for defense research, HAL for aviation, ISRO for space, CCL NTPC and GAIL in the area of energy, for example. These politicians have criticized the so-called advertising tactics in the re-packaged scheme. Some have also panned the scheme re-phrased as "Fend For Yourself" campaign.

Boycott Chinese Goods/Products Campaign

After reading this heading the first question that must be striking in your head would be are they related? So a clarification to that question is NO a big NO. The Boycott China Campaign and the Atamanirbhar Bharat vision are two separate topics. But yes the boycott China campaign might give a boost to the Atmanirbhar Bharat vision at least I feel so. What are your thoughts let me know down in the comment section?

What is Boycott China Campaign?

Boycott Chinese Products (Boycott Made in China, stop using Chinese products, stop using Chinese goods, or Boycott China) are the slogans used by the internet campaigns that advocate a boycott of Chinese-made products. Now there are many reasons behind this campaign. Some reasons I personally feel that has instigated this campaign are low quality of products, human rights issues, territorial conflicts, objection to specific matters such as eating of dog meat (Yulin Dog Festival), and some recent alleged mismanagement of COVID-19 pandemic and the most recent the China-India skirmishes (in Eastern Ladakh at LAC).

Sonam Wangchuk, an engineer, an education reformer, an inspiration behind the Vidhu Vinod Chopra's popular Hindi film '3 Idiots', from Ladakh, too Social Media to promote the boycott of all products 'Made in China'. In his two-part series titled "China ko Jawab"(Answer to China) on YouTube. He addressed the benefits of boycotting products Made in China. In his first video or we can say the first part of his series "China ko Jawab" he urges Indian people to uninstall all Chinese software within a week and hardware in a year.  In his second part of the series or the followup video, he clarified that his intentions were not to spread hatred but he was fundamentally against the 'expansionist' attitude of the
Chinese Government and its nothing against the people of China.

Unsung Reason Why Boycott China Campaign Got Hype?

Irrespective of Sonam Wangchuck's video series and the India-China border tension(standoff) there were some unsung reasons also that makes this movement so big. If you remember in May 2020 there was a big fight on the Internet that broked many records yes you guessed it right I'm talking of YouTube v/s TikTok. I think this fight between the two social media platforms was the starting point of the Boycott Chines products campaign. As this was the first time when on a massive scale Indians boycotted a Chinese application named TikTok. Many social media influencers through there Social Media platforms urged to do it so. A YouTube channel named Technical Guruji published a video in which he uninstalled the application from all the devices. In another video published by him, he explained how we are helping China as carrying their spy cams with us without even knowing.

Saloni Gaur (Nazma Aapi) an Instagramer, YouTuber entertainer shared a story on her Instagram handle in which she described how the Chinese application removed there content from their platform and she said that now she won't be posting any stuff there and will be deactivating her handle from that platform. Our beloved Hindustani Bhau (Vikas Fhatak) too stand strong against the application and urged Indians to uninstall the application and to boycott Chinese goods on his various Social Media Platforms.

CONTRIBUTION OF GOVERNMENT AND TRADERS

The shopowners in Maharashtra state had contributed greatly to the movement of Boycott China as they put posters and banners in their shops that "Chinese goods are not available here" or "we don't sell Chinese Products".

Our Indian Government too banned a lump sum of 52 Chinese applications and stated that a major security breach and these were a threat to the country.

Bihar Government canceled tender of Mega Bridge Project involving
Chinese companies. Bihar Government's decision comes in the wake of a popular call to boycott Chinese products and firms. There are many such examples.

At last, I would just like to ask you a simple question do you think this Atmanirbhar Campaign will get successful, and will the Indians be able to boycott Chinese products? Let me know your thoughts in the comments box. Yes, according to the recent news the Redmi Note 9 Pro was recently launched in India while the Boycott China Campaign is in action still the smartphone went out of stock within a  few minutes. What you think of this please let me know?

  1. Very well described by you dear. As per my point of view vocal for local is also important from economic point of view. It is a very good platform for creating opportunities of employment for our youth. Youth is one of the main segment of our economy who will play a great role in framing atamnirbhar bharat. Well done and keep it up.

    1. Thanks a lot...yes I agree vocal for local is very important as it's a stepping stone towards a self-reliant nation...and if we really want to boycott china then first of all we need to fulfill all our needs by ourselves...then only we can think of completely cutting off trade with China. And that's the reason Atmanirbhar Bharat Vision becomes more important to stand firm as a superpower in 2020.
